“Liftoff Houston!” Business Plan Competition Selected
Three Grand Prize Winners To Receive $10,000 Awards

Houston (November 18, 2014) – Three Houston-based start-ups emerged as the Grand Prize winners in the City of Houston’s “Liftoff Houston!” Business Plan Competition.  This year the finalists participated in three categories: Innovation, Product and Service. A Grand Prize winner was selected from each category and received an award of $10,000. Sponsored by Capital One Bank in partnership with the Houston Public Library (HPL) and the Office of Business Opportunity (OBO), the competition was created to engage and empower Houstonians seeking to start a new business in Houston by providing them with access to essential information, resources and support necessary to develop a sound business plan as a first step toward realizing this goal. First and Second Prize Winners were selected from nine finalists during a final pitch presentation on Saturday, November 15, 2014.

Grand Prize Winners:
Guy de Carufel and Chris Cauley - Rave’n Save, is an online business platform to connect food trucks with their customers.
Noe Erazo - Olé Noé, is a language-learning materials company that sells e-books and apps for the speech-language pathology and communication disorders market.
Jasmin Augustin and Carlos Hernandez - Logistics, Inc., is a logistics business focused on office and transportation management.
Second Place Winners:
Joel Tatum -, is a manufacturer for customized, original and elegant keepsakes.
Amber Cloud - The Music Studio on Tour, will teach aspiring music artists how to fish; they will also provide a fishing pole from a production studio in a bus.
Thomas and Daniel Garcia Prats - Small Places LLC, is a company working to use agriculture as a means of beginning to address Houston communities' food needs by developing a sustainable business model for urban farming, growing food innovatively and organically, involving community members, and promoting healthy living.
